There are Deciduous forests in many placed around the world in western and central Europe, eastern Asia, and eastern North America.
The climate is humid subtropical and warm continental, with a 6 month growing season and a non-growing season during the winter, with a hot summer and cold winter. Deciduos trees lose their leaves during the autumn because of temperature change.
Some animal species that reside in Deciduous forests are white-tailed deer, gray squirrels, and chipmunks, raccoons, opossums, skunks, and black bears.
Some plant species common to Deciduous forests are Broadleaf trees (oaks, maples, beeches), shrubs, perennial herbs, and mosses.
A current environmental issue in Deciduous forests is deforestation, people cutting down trees for timber and to make space for buildings and other man made structures.
